Still not sure what you need?

Here are some of our most frequently asked questions.

What does “random lengths” mean?

The lengths of the hardwood planks will vary. This provides a more natural, unpatterned look when the floor is installed. Often, random lengths are indicated when it says, “1 to 7 feet,” meaning some of the planks will be one foot in length and others seven feet and others in between.

What should i use to clean my floor?

Use a brand name hardwood cleaner, preferably one that is made by a hardwood flooring manufacturer. Using this type of floor cleaner ensures that the manufacturer has done their research and knows what solution is best for hardwood. We recommend the Legacy Flooring Collection Cleaning Kit. Do not use oil soaps, waxes, furniture polish, vinegar, ammonia-based products, steam mops, or your vacuum cleaner with the beater bar turning. Can i use a steam cleaner on my hardwood flooring?

Never use a steam cleaner on a hardwood floor. Its very nature pushes water onto the floor which can cause the finish to bubble as the water gets under the finish. The wood can plump, warp, twist or mold. Your floor will be damaged, and your warranty can be voided.

I have used an oil base cleaner. How do i get back my floor’s original shine?

Contact the manufacturer of the cleaner to find out how it can be safely removed

I have glue left on my floor from the installation. How do i remove it?

Because there is a wide variety of installation glues available, we recommend that you contact the specific glue manufacturer involved to find out the safest way for removing the product from your floor.

How does moisture affect my hardwood flooring?

Excessive moisture can lead to numerous changes to your floor including cupping, buckling or cracking.

What can i do to protect my floors?

Your hardwood floors can be protected by using felt pads on all furniture. We also recommend keeping a welcome mat and rugs near entryways to remove dirt, pebbles and rock salt from shoes that can scratch and damage floors over time.

What hardwood species do you offer and what are the differences?

We have selected the highest quality and most popular species of hardwood from forests all over the world to include in the Legacy Flooring Collection. Each species has unique markings, with variations in hardness, color, grain pattern, and texture.

Can i expect my floor color to have variations?

Hardwood flooring is made from harvested trees, a natural product, and color variations is a byproduct. Although lower grades of flooring tend to have more character marks, color differences are visible in all grades of wood. Exotic wood species have a color and grain that is very distinct, and much different from those found in domestic woods, which tend to be a bit more consistent and subtler.

What is the price of the legacy flooring collection?

Legacy Flooring Collection is sold exclusively through authorized retail dealers.. To find a dealer near you, visit our locations page.

What does “random widths” mean?

Using various size planks will help you create a floor with a natural, authentic feel. Random widths will be just that, random. The planks will not be one standard width. This is a popular choice for those who like the rustic and old-world style.

Can you install legacy flooring collection hardwood over radiant heat?

Experts agree the best option for radiant heat is engineered hardwood. It is not as thick as solid hardwood, leaving room for the thin heating cables or tubes to lie easily beneath the floors. Engineered hardwood can also be “floated” which means the boards are glued at the seams and not nailed or glued down to the subfloor. Also, make sure your radiant heating system has been fully operational at 80 degrees for two weeks before installation. Are legacy flooring collection products carb 2 compliant?

All of our products are carb (California air resource’s board) 2 compliant. The carb 2 compliant standard is one of the most stringent standards in effect to limit formaldehyde emissions. We require all of our manufacturers to adhere to all environmental, health, and safety requirements, including stringent standards on formaldehyde emissions. The regulation establishes emission standards at levels that protects public health. Our products are also 100 percent lacey act certified. Third party certification agencies are used to verify that all raw materials used in the production of our wood products are of legal origin.
